Our volunteer spot

 June 3, 2021

In the last post I showed you the road coming into the actual spot where we volunteer. The surroundings are quite lovely and the actual location is very nice.  The host campsite has water, sewer, and electric conveniences so no complaint there.

The parking lot for the visitors which is 99% fishermen
The small white dot you see on the left edge of the picture is our rv.

This is looking up the road like you would be leaving the area.

When a vehicle comes into the recreation area, they need at least a day pass.  Or, for many of you reading this, those visitors who have had enough birthdays, can get in with their National Senior Pass; one time when being over 62 is a benefit.  A day pass is $5, a weekly pass is $15, and an annual Flaming Gorge Recreation Area pass is $35.  We also sell the Senior pass for $80 that gets you into all national parks and monuments.

The air here is very dry so 85 degrees does not feel nearly as warm as 85 degrees in Alabama.  The area is very vast and there is little air pollution, so the sun is very intense and one can get sunburned easily.

OBSERVATIONS:
I have noticed in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming and northern Utah, the most popular pick up truck is by far the Dodge Ram.  Second would be Ford with Chevy/GMC lagging well behind. Part of that could be because Jeep is also popular so the Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler dealers are easy to find.

    1. On our way out here, we counted about 170 antelope and a dozen or so deer. Upon arriving, we have seen antelope and deer within three miles of where we are staying.
